What is this?
This is a website that I have personally created, using Dreamweaver. I made it for my webpage development class. It showcases what I believe are the best movies of all time, as well as what I believe to be the worst movies of all time. THere will be 2 movies per movie genre: my favorite movie, and my least favorite movie. My least favorite movies will not be B or C list movies. They will A list movies that were very, very bad. I hope you enjoy.
Best Overall Movie, in My Opinion
In my opinion, the best movie ever made is Reservoir Dogs, directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Shots / Miscellaneous
The movie is shot in a very interesting way. It is told in a non-linear plot. This means that there are a ton of flashbacks. It is also organized kind of like a book. The story has chapters, which explain the background of the characters, as well as focus on their point-of-view on the actions of the plot. It has no main character, nor typical good vs. evil plot: all characters are murderers and thieves. Howver, the way the plot is presented makes you root for these villians. You want the villains to pull the heist off and get paid opposed to wanting the cops to find these men and arrest them. The main twist of the story is also hidden form you. The shots and angles used make you suspect every character of being the rat. Subtle hints are thrown in throughout the whole story as to who the rat actually is. Only the most observant viewer will catch all of them, and most certainly not on the first viewing.
Sound
All the sound in Reservoir Dogs is digetic. This menas all the sound comes from the movie and you can see where the source is. For example, during the torture of the police officer, the song Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealer's Wheel is played on the radio. When Mr. Blonde walks outside to his car, the music fades. When he walks back into the building, not only does the music return, but it is in exactly the right place it would be if he had been actually playing it on the radio. While it was technically inserted in postproduction, it gives the illusion of the song being played through the radio's speakers, making it digetic. All of the msic heard in the movie is from radios in coffe shops, diners, stores, warehouses, and homes.
Acting / Plot
The actin in this movie is stellar. The main cast is as follows:
| Cast overview, first billed only: | |||
| Harvey Keitel | ... | ||
| Tim Roth | ... | ||
| Michael Madsen | ... | ||
| Chris Penn | ... | ||
| Steve Buscemi | ... | ||
| Lawrence Tierney | ... | ||
| Edward Bunker | ... | Mr. Blue (as Eddie Bunker) |
|
| Quentin Tarantino | ... | ||
The story is about a jewelry heist gone wrong. The main characters are all proffessional thieves and gunman who are hired to rob a jewelry store. However, somehow, things go south and everything falls apart. It is quickly realized by the characters that one of them is a mole, put in there by the police. The plot follows their mad race to discovering the rat and escaping the authorities. The acting is superb, having subtle hints to who the rat actually is throughought his performance. All the actors seem to have the genuine emotions of each of their characters. Michael Madsen does an especially good job playing Mr. Blonde, the psycopath who likes being a psychopath. It is an amazing fil that I would highly recommend to anyone.
